Polystyrene Block Slab System
The polystyrene block system is made from high density polystyrene and is a convenient and economical alternative to the traditional ash block system.
It has many
advantages:
The polystyrene blocks result in a reduction of approximatley 1,6kN/m2 of dead load from the slab making design cheaper
Because it is upto 90% lighter than the ash block system it is significantly easier and quicker to install and allow last minute changes
There are fewer breakages during delivery & installation
The polystyrene layer acts as insulation which is 10 times more energy efficient and gives better sound proofing
No electricity is needed for plumbing installation on top of the blocks as they can be cut easily with a hand saw
The soffit is easily plastered and the finished appearance is no different from an ash block slab
Ignition temperature of 230ÂșC
Product Description
This technology is specialized for suspended floor slabs for multi storey buildings.
Components of our slab are the conventional pre stressed lintels and construction stell as well as using revolutionary polystyrene void formers onto which concrete is poured.
Benefits of Polystyrene void formers
Thermal & sound insulator
The slab depth is controlled by using 4 different sized blocks
The weight of the polystyrene is 95% lighter and is easily installed at much quicker rates than ashblock.
Polystyrene is easily plastered
A slab is approximately 35% lighter. This equates to a saving of about 150kg/m2 on a 255mm slab.
Compared to concrete in situ slabs the weight saving is even more significant - on a 255mm deep concrete in situ slab the weight saving is close to320kg/m2
Blocks can readily be cut into with a handsaw by electricians and plumbers
Polystyrene blocks can hold workmen without fear of breakages or damage
Thermal insulating material
Reducing energy costs associated with heating and cooling. Polystyrene thermal insulation is 7 times better than a standard concrete slab
Acts as a sound barrier and mutes all sound waves that are normally transmitted through floor slabs
They do not add any fire hazard and will not propogate flame
Polystyrene is rot, rodent and termite proof
Polystyrene is cost competitive and becomes increasingly competitive when the costs of labour and time are taken into consideration
Fewer props are needed per m2
Note:
Skylights are easy to install by leaving out polystyrene blocks
